The Soul" on Fridays at 8:00PM at the North Shore Synagogue,
83 Muttontown Road, Syosset, NY 11791. During uncertain
times, when it seems as if all the news is bad and the week
is long and difficult, Friday evenings are a time to stop,
to take a deep breath, and a spiritual rest from the often
overwhelming demands of work, responsibilities and worries.
This year, North Shore Synagogue is proud to offer Tefillat
HaNeshamaha spa for the soul. Offered on the fourth Friday
night of each month, Tefillat HaNeshamah is a Shabbat
service built for relaxation and rejuvenation. Services
begin at 8:00PM, to allow attendees to arrive home, enjoy a
leisurely dinner, and then come to North Shore Synagogue.
When you enter the tranquil, inviting atmosphere of our
sanctuary for Tefillat HaNeshamah, you will find yourself
greeted by the soft music and warm glow of the Sabbath
candles. Throughout the evening, moments of community
intermingle with moments of solitude to both calm and
rejuvenate. As you let the ancient words with soothing
harmonies wash over you, enjoy the feeling of "letting go"
of the past week. Restore balance to your mind and soul with
moving melodies and stirring readings. Tefillat HaNeshamah
is where our sanctuary becomes your personal sacred space.

Association of Fundraising Professionals Long
Island Chapter (AFPLI) Philanthropy Day 2009 on
Friday, November 20, 2009 12:45PM-2:00PM (Awards
Luncheon) at the Long Island Marriott, 101 James
Doolittle Boulevard, Uniondale, NY 11553
(516-794-3800). Despite headlines that the
recovery has arrived, thousands of Long Islanders
still depend on others for help with food, shelter,
clothing, medical care, and more. Unemployment has
taken a serious toll on the Island at every income
level. Foreclosures are at record levels. People who
made donations now find themselves turning to the
same organizations they once supported. Where do
they turn for help? The not-for-profit agencies of
Long Island. How do these organizations stay afloat?
A small army of fundraisers work tirelessly to find
the resources to help their constituents. And while
fundraising has never been for the faint of heart,
today's economy has made it tougher than ever. This
year, more than ever before, Philanthropy Day 2009 (www.philanthropyday.org)
helps fundraisers improve skills, network, and
celebrate their success. What else is different this
year? A special workshop for major gifts will give
fundraisers in small organizations an opportunity to
compete for three donations ? one of $3,000, and two
of $1,000, along with the opportunity to present
before several major Long Island philanthropists.
More than 700 development professionals, volunteers,
board members, philanthropists, community activists
and organizers, executive directors and leaders.
Association of Fundraising Professionals Long Island
Chapter (AFPLI) continually strives to be the
premiere organization that educates and prepares
fundraisers to be professional, ethical and informed
stewards of our donors gifts and our constituents
needs. At Philanthropy Day, senior fundraisers
teach, mentor and network with those who are new to
the profession. Seasoned fundraisers are offered
educational tracks that enrich and update their
skills. And now is the most important time for
fundraising professionals to use the resources that
Association of Fundraising Professionals Long Island
Chapter offers to get through this rough economic
time. For more information please call Joan Connor
at 631-249-5008 or reply at

90 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott, NY. Animal Rescue Fund
of the Hamptons (ARF) announced today that it will waive the
standard $100 adoption fee for all adult cats during

still find their way into shelters all across the country
where whey are euthanized by the millions each year. Animal
Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) currently has 35 healthy,

by a veterinarian, is neutered, vaccinated and micro
chipped. Each cat also has a handsome pink or blue collar,
an Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) tag and carrying
case complete with sample food and coupons. This offer does
not apply to kittens, or cats under one (1) year of age. The
standard adoption fee for kittens is $100 each. Founded in

Left to Tell" on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at 8:00PM at

Kathleen Russo, directed by Lucy Sexton, featuring Kathleen
Chalfant, Michael Cunningham, Hazelle Goodman, Ain Gordon
and Mercedes Ruehl. Spalding Gray, one of the most revered
and irreverent storytellers of our time, became an indelible
image: sitting alone at a desk on a bare stage, delivering
hilarious and moving monologues. But what made Gray's
performances so memorable and timeless was the universal way
his words-the observations, neuroses, fears and joys they
expressed-resonate so deeply with audiences. His work lives
on in the funny, poignant, and ultimately life-affirming
Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell. Tickets: $65, $50, $35.
