Ongoing Event : Nutrition Class Group
Program Offered By Fitness Fusion 360
This program is an 8-week program. During
these 8 weeks, participants meet with a
Nutrition Manager Consultant three times -
one hour at the beginning of the program,
one hour during the program, and one hour at
the end of 12 weeks. Participants are asked
to keep a food log and an exercise log; they
learn how to analyze what they eat and
discover the number of calories they should
eat to achieve balance; they learn how to
budget their time and fit exercise into
their schedules; they learn ways to reduce
stress and why it is important to do so.
When participants have completed the 8
weeks, they will posses the tools needed to
be successful in long-term "fat" loss and
health. The program also includes three
individual consultations: The first
individual consultation is after the first
group meeting. This meeting concentrates on
individualizing the participants exercise
program; discussing the participant's goals
and objectives; and teaching the participant
how to use the diet analysis software. The
second individual consultation occurs after
the fourth group meeting. This consultation
focuses on how the participant is doing. The
third individual consultation occurs at week
12 (4 weeks after the group program). This
consultation concentrates on how the
participant is doing after the program
(repeat body composition measures, etc).

Enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year is now underway.
We offer a program enriched with both Judaic and secular
studies, as well as guest educators and special programs.
Special Incentives are now being offered for early
enrollment.Philosophy & Goal of Our School: The
nursery school program of the JCC of West Hempstead is
committed to affording children a broad range of
developmentally appropriate experiences in an effort to
stimulate and support social, emotional, and pre-academic
growth. We believe that through carefully structured play
and guided learning activities, children are able to enhance
their skills in the areas of language and motor development.
The children are offered unique opportunities to develop an
appreciation of their own unique styles of learning, while
supporting the needs of their peers in a co-operative and
secure setting. A primary goal of the nursery school is to
expose our children to our rich cultural heritage and to
incorporate Jewish topics, history and observances into
daily routines. Our Staff: Our teaching and
administrative staff is comprised of New York State licensed
teachers and experienced teacher-assistants, all of whom
have had training and experience in early childhood
education. Our staff has the ongoing support of Rabbi
Stecker. Our Program: Our program is licensed by the
New York State Department of Social Services. Parental
involvement is an integral aspect of our Nursery School
program. Teachers provide feedback during informal meetings

Suffolk Independent Living Organization (SILO) Informational
Session For Potential Providers About The Nursing Home
Transition & Diversion Waiver on Thursday, March 18, 2008
from 9:00AM-3:00PM. SILO's accessible offices are located at
3680 Route 112, Suite 4 in Coram, NY (just south of the
Route 112 and Route 25 intersection or north of the LIE Exit
64). What is the NHTD Waiver? The NHTD is one component
of a comprehensive strategy to assure that New Yorkers with
disabilities and seniors receive services in the most
appropriate, least restrictive setting. The program is based
upon the philosophy that people with disabilities and/or
seniors have the right to direct their own lives. We are
excited to tell you that the Waiver offers people a
community based alternative to nursing facility care. This
means that many people living in nursing facilities will be
given the option to leave, and others currently living in
the community will receive the assistance they need to
safely continue to live in their own homes if they choose.
Do you support the idea of people with disabilities or
seniors living in the community? Then we need you! The
Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Waiver (NHTD) is ready
to be launched, but we need innovative people that can
provide services to make it all possible! We look forward to
seeing you. Please RSVP with the number of people attending
prior to March 7 by calling 631.880.7929 or e-mail

Winners Of The Biggest Loser Declare March 20, 2008 As
National Recommitment Day For All New Yorkers. Reality
TV Stars Bill and Jim Germanakos provide their Top 9 Tips
for recommitting to your resolutions and achieving your
goals. The Biggest Loser champions are partnering with
Finding Dulcinea to announce National Recommitment Day to
your resolutions, which will be recognized on the first day
of Spring, March 20, 2008.
Research by Finding Dulcinea reveals that year after year,
more than 2/3 of Americans abandon their New Year=92s
resolutions by springtime and more than 80% fail to fulfill
their resolutions by year=92s end. With that in mind,
Finding Dulcinea is asking Americans to recommit to their
New Year Resolutions now. People who struggle to reach their
goals think they are alone, says Bill Germanakos, who lost
164 pounds, or 49% of his body weight, to win the title of
Biggest Loser4 in the 2007 season of NBC hit reality show,
but the reality is that most people struggle to make their
goals happen.
The hardest part of any self-improvement plan is overcoming
the inevitable stumbles along the way,=94 said Jim
Germanakos, twin brother of Bill, who lost half of his
initial body weight on The Biggest Loser, capturing the
prize for biggest weight lost among those who had been voted
off the show. The key to success is not to give up just
because you've had a bad week, Jim continued, =93most
people, when they fail to keep their resolutions, say wait
till next year. But there are still nine months left in
2008. So get started on them, again, today! For more

Saturn Party & Lecture: Farewell To The Rings on Saturday,
March 29, 2008 at 8:00PM (rain date April 5, 2008 at 8:00PM)
at the Custer Institute and Observatory, 1115 Main Bayview
Road (South of Rte. 25), Southold, NY. Speaker: Dr.
Jeffrey Owen Katz, Custer Institute Observatory Director. A
brief lecture about Saturn, then view its disappearing rings
through powerful telescopes (weather permitting) while you
still can! Suggested donation: $5 Non-Members. $3 Children
under 14. Members: free. Raindate: Sat., April 5, 8:00 PM.
Right now, Saturn and its rings are clearly visible. The pet
planet of stargazers is high in the sky, visible at a
convenient time of night, and its most impressive
characteristic--its rings--are still easy to see; as the
year progresses, that will not continue to be the case. By
Sept. 2008, Saturn's rings will be edge-on and, therefore,
will be invisible to observers for quite some time. At 8:00
PM, Custer's Observatory Director, Dr. Jeffrey Owen Katz,
will present a brief lecture about Saturn and its
disappearing rings. Weather permitting, observing the planet
through large telescopes will follow. So join us as we
celebrate Saturn and bid a fond adieu to its rings, at least
for a while. Refreshments available. Suggested Donation: $5
Adults, $3 Children under 14. Free for Members. Photo of
Saturn available upon request. For more information please
