This three week course is aimed at students young and old
who are new to the field of astronomy or who want to brush
up on the basics; even the most experienced astronomers will
learn a thing or two. Prof. Lomaga's teaching style makes
learning easy and fun. Topics will include subjects ranging
from the fundamentals of our solar system, to cosmology, to
finding your way around the night sky, as well as areas of
special interest suggested by class participants. Lots of
fascinating things to learn and amazing sights to see. When
weather permits, the class will be taken outside for
in-field demonstrations and observing. Instructor: Prof.
George Lomaga has taught astronomy at Suffolk County
Community College and has been an active Member of the

telescope but it doesn't seem to be working quite right and
you're asking yourself: "Is it me or the equipment?" Or
maybe you'd like to buy a telescope and want to know what to
consider before making the purchase. This lecture and
workshop will provide all the answers.You'll learn all you
ever wanted to know about telescopes and receive practical
information that will help you get set up and observing.
After the lecture, there will be an opportunity for you to
receive hands-on help from the instructor and Custer's
Observatory Staff so bring your equipment with you.

Roberto Tyson Trio with a special guest artist performing.
