The Long Island Muslim Society is strictly a member-supported organization. Membership has now expanded beyond Long Island and Muslims of other ethnicities are also now active participants in this organization. The mission of the Long Island Muslim Society is to organize Muslims in the area and help them stay on the path dictated by the Holy Qur'an and practiced by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through educational and spiritual means. In the United States, education is the right of every child and the Government has set up schools to ensure that right is fulfilled. However, since the Government has divested itself of God, education that is offered in Public schools is devoid of moral, spiritual and religious values. They cater to the secular needs only, whereas a human being is both a temporal and spiritual creation and needs abound in both these aspects of the human being.

Hence Al-Iman School has taken it upon itself to provide a balanced education that caters to both the needs: secular and spiritual.
