Garvies Point Museum Investigating Rocks and Minerals 2018 at Garvies Point Museum Preserve in Glen Cove, Nassau County, Long Island, New York.
Saturday, February 24 2018 10:00Am-4:00PM every half an hour. Learn to identify rocks like a geologist does! All are welcome to join this hands-on workshop to perform scientific tests for color of streak, luster, hardness and more on various rocks and minerals. Learn and observe interesting special properties of minerals like double refraction and fluorescence. Hands-on workshop for kids and adults. Children ages 7+ recommended. Film: "Eyewitness: Rock and Mineral" (30 minutes) at 11:00AM, 1:00PM, 3:00PM. Included with museum admission.
Garvies Point Museum and Preserve
Overlooking the Hemstead Harbor, Garvies Point Museum and Preserve is an exhibition devoted to the Native American culture and the science of archaeology.
