Description: |
Book of Ruth Special Concert Celebrating Black History Month 2020 at The Episcopal Church of The Advent in Westbury, Nassau County Long Island New York.
On Saturday February 1 2020 from 7:00PM–9:30PM The Book of Ruth will be performing a special concert at The Episcopal Church of The Advent in celebration of Black History Month. Book of Ruth members will share with attendees inspiring covers by gospel legends, as well as Broadway and Contemporary artists. This evening, which will feature The Prest4Time Band, poetry and a dynamic praise dance ministry will prove to be a blessing to all in attendance.
The Book of Ruth's name was inspired by the story of Ruth. Its ministry is one that speaks about loyalty, friendships, familial relationships and God’s ability to heal broken distressed families. The journey of the African from the slave ship to American citizenship was complex and hard. During the course, the threat of annihilation to the African American family dynamic was fierce. There have been so many unknown heroes and sheroes that endured brutal conditions and met unspeakable hostility so that we can experience the beauty of family and friendship. The Book of Ruth wants to honor these unsung heroes whose graves may not even bear an identifying headstone; for their lives must matter to us all if our lives are to matter to each other today.
Growing up on Long Island, Sadanyah Flowing Water, founder of the Book of Ruth, has seen many families torn apart by complex misunderstandings, economic hardships, disease and tragedies that they could not foresee nor control. Through its music, The Book of Ruth simply wants to encourage people to pray about the difficult situations and challenges their families may be facing and to believe that the Creator Can Fix It All. |
