The Second Kind of Impossible: A Lecture and Book Signing at East Hampton Library in East Hampton, Suffolk County, Long Island, New York.
This talk is about one of the strangest scientific detective stories of the last 50 years, an exciting quest for a new form of matter, "quasicrystals."
Montauk Observatory is honored to present Prof. Paul Steinhardt who will describe the scientific odyssey that spanned decades, during which time his team traveled to remote parts of the Earth encountered clandestine collectors, corrupt scientists, secret diaries, international smugglers, and KGB agents. Steinhardt is co-founder and Director of Princeton's Center for Theoretical Science and is on faculty of both the Physics and Astrophysical Sciences Depts. His book, The Second Kind of Impossible, will be available for purchase and signing by the author. |
