Immerse yourself in quaint seaside living with a relaxing stay at The Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast in the historic whaling and seaport village of Greenport, New York. Originally built in 1822, this charming home has been meticulously restored to maintain its original character and splendor, while at the same time provide guests with comfortable, modern amenities. Innkeepers Klaus and Renate Wilhelm are originally from Föhr, one of the North Frisian islands off the coast of Germany. They took over the inn in the fall of 2004. Prior to doing so, Renate worked for many prominent social and political figures on Long Island over the last decade, including the Van Alens, direct descendants to the Astors and the Vanderbilts. Her responsibilities included gourmet cooking, event planning and entertaining, organizing social engagements, dinner parties and the like. Renate's unique background, combined with the Wilhelms' European heritage adds a special charm to the experience of staying at the Morning Glory.
Open year-round, The Morning Glory Bed and Breakfast offers three beautifully appointed, air-conditioned guest rooms with private baths. The decor is elegantly simple and natural, and guests will appreciate the "green" approach found inside and out with small touches such as filtered water in glass bottles (instead of plastic), organic vegetables and other ingredients, and the use of natural cleaning products and more. A delicious, hot gourmet breakfast is served each morning in The Morning Glory's elegant dining room or on the garden patio, offering guests a delectable way to start a day of exploring the village, relaxing on the beach, visiting historic landmarks or enjoying the myriad of recreational activities offered in the picturesque North Fork region. |
