Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (SCCADV) Celebrating 34 Years of Service
Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence on Long Island, New York dedicates all of its efforts to providing safety and support to family violence victims by offering preventative and supportive services and an outlet for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning (LGBTQ) survivors of domestic violence in Suffolk County.
The Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (SCCADV) incorporated in 1976 as a 501(C)(3) not-for-profit organization which provides services to victims domestic violence in Suffolk County, NY. From the beginning, we recognized that the most important need for victims is safety. With a program of shelter, supportive services and prevention, Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence offers victims options as they take the first steps in reclaiming their lives. Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence's services include safety, shelter, hotline, advocacy, counseling, vocational advocacy project (VAP), children, teens.
The Drive To Thrive offers a safe place for LGBTQ survivors of domestic violence in Suffolk county who are seeking support and services, tailored to meet their specific needs within the LGBTQ community. We hope to provide an LGBTQ-affirming outlet to share dialogue, support, empowerment, and crucial information to help you return to a safe and thriving life again.
The Drive To Thrive offers:
- "The Drive To Thrive" weekly support group
- Advocacy services in Family/Criminal Courts and Suffolk County Police Precincts, with knowledgeable advocates who can help you with specific LGBTQ domestic violence safety concerns including obtaining Orders of Protection
- Emergency shelter services for LGBTQ victims
- A discussion forum to promote dialogue and support among the LGBTQ community surrounding domestic/intimate partner violence
