Long Island School for the Gifted (LISG) in Huntington Station, Long Island, New York is a unique school for grades Pre-K through 9 dedicated to providing an outstanding education for academically gifted children. There is abundant evidence of a passion for learning and teaching and visitors comment on the palpable level of excitement they feel in the air. Doors to the classrooms are open, and you can hear the cheerful voices of children having fun and being excited about learning. Our students are happy and productive and enjoy coming to school.

The Long Island School for the Gifted admits students of any race, color, sex, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national and ethnic origin in administration of its admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs and athletic and other school administered programs. The admissions process begins with an IQ test administered by an independent licensed psychologist or testing service. While our experience has shown that our most successful students are our hardest workers and not those with the highest IQ's, the IQ test helps us determine if the placement will be appropriate and fair for the individual child. The IQ test is followed by a parent visit to the school to meet with the Director of Admissions to discuss the child and learn more about the program. A tour of the school follows the interview. The final phase of the admissions process is the student visit. The IQ tests we accept are the Stanford Binet, WPPSI or the WISC. If your child has not been tested and you need the name of a qualifed psychologist, please call the admissions office at 631-423-3557 and we will be happy to recommend someone. After your child has been tested, please fill out the Introductory Questionnaire below and submit an IQ report.
