Maple Sugaring Demonstration at Benner's Farm in East Setauket, Long Island, New York.
The phases of Maple Sugaring will be demonstrated at our working homestead during this popular day. Visit with our animals, help gather sap in the woods, see how the trees are tapped,what kind they are and how to tell them from the other trees in our Long Island woods. Stand in front of the warm fire where gallons of sap are boiled down to produce the wonderful sweet, syrup we all enjoy. Finally, taste the finished syrup and hot waffles made from scratch. Syrup and maple sugar products will be on sale as available.
About Benner's Farm
Old Fashion Family Fun
Benner's Farm is a private fifteen-acre family homestead, first farmed in the 1700's. Each year the farm provides thousands of people a sense of what it was like to live on a small farm in years past. The Benner's are the seventh family to farm this land. They have been farming organically since the late nineteen seventies in their family garden and fields of strawberries, and also raise a variety of farm animals for self-sufficient living. Thousands of people come to visit and participate in the many workshops, festivals and special events during the year.
