The Top Secret Tasting 2010 Merliance Release Party by Long Island Merlot Alliance at Raphael Vineyard and Winery in Peconic, Long Island, New York.
Merliance, the alliance of Long Island producers of quality merlot and merlot-based blends, invites you to join our member-winemakers for a top-secret tasting of the signature wines of the region. We are releasing the 2010 Merliance—our eponymous merlot blend and the only cooperative wine made on Long Island—and opening bottles of our members’ not-yet-released merlot wines, all from the landmark 2010 vintage. And, as part of a five-year vertical tasting of Merliance, savor barrel samples of the 2011 blend, which will be the first Merliance to include Cabernet Franc. Be among the first to taste these extraordinary wines, some released at this special event, some offered years before their release! A selection of signature hors d'oeuvres will be served, courtesy of Raphael. Proceeds fund the research and other quality initiatives of Merliance of which Clovis Point is a proud member.
About Long Island Merlot Alliance
The Long Island Merlot Alliance was formed in 2005 by Long Island wineries dedicated to advancing the quality in the production of merlot-based wines as the signature wines of our region. In 2012, we evolved our mission to underscore our support for merlot-based blends and changed our name to simply, Merliance, a blended word based on merlot-just like our cooperative wine and our mission. Merlot is the most widely planted grape, consistently performs well in our terroir and, because it's so often used in blends, enriches all red wines of our region.Read more about our organization in the Edible East End feature story, "Reveling in Red" published in the High Summer edition, 2012. |
