The Barclays 2012 will take place at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, NY which was the host of TWO U.S. Opens, (2002 and 2009). Now, Bethpage Black is back to punish the PGA Tour's top golfers for the first FedExCup playoff event in August 2012.
The Barclays 2012 will take place at "Bethpage Black" in Farmingdale, NY. The Black Course at Bethpage State Park has been the host venue for two U.S. Opens, (2002 and 2009). Now it will challenge the PGA TOUR's top golfers for the first FedExCup playoff event.
The Black Course was one of the last courses designed by master golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast and is said by many to be his finest work. The narrow fairways, high roughs, well placed bunkers and small greens help to make this an extremely difficult course. It is for walkers only and its slope rating is one of the highest in the northeast. The course is public, but warning signs caution that it should be played only by low-handicap golfers. The Black Course at Bethpage State Park has a course par value of 71; and total yardage of 7,468.
The excitement is building as the top players in the FedExCup standings gather in August at the Bethpage State Park Black Course. The Barclays is the first event in the tour playoffs and players include an exciting mix of some of the game's biggest names as well as a group of fresh up-and-coming players.
