So shut off the TV, power down your laptops, ipads, cell phones; take a break from video games and come to Quogue Wildlife Refuge. See below for details on each event. All programs are free, but be sure to make reservations as space for each is limited.
Monday, 4/29; Twilight Walk, 7:00PM-8:00PM
Enjoy an evening walk to North Pond while looking and listening to the sights and sounds of spring at dusk. Moderately paced 1.5 miles. For adults and families.
Tuesday, 4/30, Habitat Hike/Discovering Senses, 4:00PM-5:00PM
This hike will include visits through the deciduous forest, a field, a pine forest, a carnivorous bog and a freshwater pond. Explore each area and learn what and who lives wear. We will use our senses to discover our surroundings. For adults and families.
Wednesday, 5/1, Scavenger Hunt, 4:30PM-5:30PM
Arrive at 4:30PM sharp for an overview of Quogue Wildlife Refuge maps, trails and topography. Then take your instructions and head out into the wilderness to find the answers to the questions on this scavenger hunt. Children must be with a participating/supervising adult.
Thursday, 5/2, Nature Sun Prints, 4:00PM-5:00PM
Find pieces of nature as we stroll through the trails (leaves, pine cones, feathers) and we will bring them back to the outdoor craft area to use photo sun paper. For children ages 7 and up. Younger children welcome if parents stay. If it is cloudy or rainy, an alternate craft will take place in the Nature Center.
Friday, 5/2, Family Game Night, 6:30PM-8:00PM
Come with family or bring friends! Reserve a table in the Nature Center to play your favorite board game that you've brought from home. We will start with some Wildlife Trivia for prizes and then enjoy game time and snacks in a room with a beautiful view. Feel free to bring a snack for the 'snack table'. For adults and families.
