Description: |
Nature's Antifreeze: For Adults and Children Ages 8 and Older at the South Fork Natural History Museum and Nature Center in Bridgehampton, Long Island, New York. Leader: Frank Quevedo, SoFo Executive Director.
Have you ever thought how fortunate we are to be able to have shelter, clothes, and heating devises to help keep us warm in the winter? Some animals can grow extra layers of hide, burrow underground, and even decrease their metabolism to survive the winter. Some animals, like the Grey Tree Frog, literally freeze and then thaw out when spring returns. The Grey Tree Frog's "natural antifreeze" will be the focus of this workshop where you'll perform some basic experiments to learn about this and other surprising ways animals have adapted to winter’s cold. Limited enrollment, reserve now. |
