About East End Cares
East End coming together for Sandy Relief. This group is a forum for connecting people who want to help those affected by Sandy. please use this group to connect to those who want to help just like you. And, if you are unable to make a connection to a group that meets your needs through East End Cares, there are many organizations online that are offering relief services that need volunteers. Just Google "Sandy Help" in the community in which you'd like to help.
East End Cares is a collective, not a formal organization, and by no means has all of the answers on how to help, but we think it's become a great tool in helping our amazing East End communities collaborate on relief efforts. Thank you, thank you, thank you - and please send good thoughts up west!
East End Cares does not support volunteers working on mold abatement. There can serious health risks involved with certain strains and degrees of mold infestation. Also in order for the abatement to be fully effective, in extreme cases of mold, volunteers may not have the expertise to completely eradicate the issue. When it comes to mold at this point and possible stage of mold developmen we feel this is best left to the experts.
On the notes in our East End Cares announcements page you can find tips on how to protect yourself in general volunteering conditions. These are common sense and we hope everyone will take good care of themselves. A healthy volunteer is a helpful volunteer. |
