Come out and see life in a 1700's Long Island encampment! This event will include musket drills, children's activities, camp life demonstrations, a children's muster, and yes even a cannon firing! There will also be camp cooking demonstrations, authentic 18th century music and trades.

The Order of the Ancient and Honorable Huntington Militia recreates and reenacts a Colonial Militia that has existed in the Town of Huntington, New York since 1653.
Men, Women, and Families with Children reenact 18th Century civilian and military life at local, regional and national events.
Based in the Sammis House on the village green, the house is known as the Arsenal, where the militia's stores were hidden in the attic just prior to the Revolution.
Artillerymen present and fire an 18th Century field cannon while Men at Arms drill and fire 18th Century muskets.

Old Bethpage Village Restoration is a living history museum dealing mostly in 1800's Long Island life providing visitors with a unique and wonderful opportunity to step back in time and experience life in a recreated mid-19th-century American village. The 209-acre village includes an assortment of homes, farms and businesses. Our goal is to educate our guests about Long Island life back in the 1800's in a fun and interesting way. At Old Bethpage Village Restoration you will be able to get your Old Fashioned Root Beer at the Noon Inn Bar, learn how to make hats, be taught in the One Room Schoolhouse, or even grab a candy stick to enjoy while self-guiding yourself through the museum. We also have many Events scheduled throughout the year for guests of any age to enjoy. |
