About Congregation Tifereth Israel Glen Cove
Nassau County's Oldest Synagogue
Founded in 1897, we are the oldest continuously operating Synagogue on Long Island. As a Conservative congregation, our aim is to enrich the lives of our members through Mitzvot and the joy of Jewish living, and to transmit Jewish values and traditions to the next generation. We provide spiritual, educational and cultural growth for our members and their families in a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Religious Services
- Egalitarian and participatory services provide both men and women equal opportunity for religious expression
- Minyanim are held four mornings a week and on Monday evenings
- Shabbat services are held on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings, with a monthly Shabbat service being is led by one of our Hebrew School classes
- High Holiday and Festival services
Educational Opportunities
The highest quality educational programs are available to our members.
- We offer half- and full-day Jewish preschool for children age two through pre-kindergarten
- Mommy and Me classes ease young children into the more structured educational environment
- Our Hebrew School for elementary and middle school students meets twice a week, teaching Hebrew skills and Torah study, as well as featuring family holiday celebrations
- Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation are held for students on an individualized basis
- Confirmation Classes not only extend our students' knowledge, but are aimed at helping them to maintain their Jewish identities
- Our Adult Education department offers programs on spiritual topics as well as on Jewish culture, history, and current events. Sunday morning breakfasts with guest speakers are held throughout the year
- The Wolpert Scholarship Fund awards a number of scholarships to students attaining higher education
Social Activities
Our members participate in a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities including the following:

- Sukkah Hop
- Israeli Dance
Our Men's Club sponsors additional youth and adults programs. Our congregation is a large, extended family that shares in the joys of life cycle events and supports each other in times of need. |
