Film The Power of Forgiveness 9:30PM-10:40PM
Selichot Service 10:45PM-11:15PM
The Power of Forgiveness explores the psychological and physical effects of forgiveness as individuals and within relationships, and features stories on the Amish, the 9/11 tragedy and peache-building in Norther Ireland, along with interviews with Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, Novel Laureate Elie Wiesel, best-selling authors Thomas Moore and Marianne Williamson and others.
The film also explores the role forgiveness holds in various faiths' traditions. Through character-driven stories, the film shows the role forgiveness can play in alleviating anger and grief and the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that come with it.
Selichot are Jewish penitential poems and prayers, especially those said in the period leading up to the High Holidays and on Fast Days. God's Thirteen Attributes of Mercy are a central theme throughout these prayers.
About East Northport Jewish Center
We are a Conservative, egalitarian synagogue of approximately 300 families. We are truly multi-generational; our youngest members are infants, our oldest are in their nineties. On any Shabbat, you can find three generations of the same family in our pews. |
