3D Pumpkin Carving Demo Halloween Workshop with Artist Andy Gertler at Hicks Nurseries in Westbury, long Island, New York.
Stop by anytime during the day to observe how a professional artist carves 3D images into pumpkins and pick up some tips along the way. Reservations are not necessary. All children 12 or under are encouraged to bring in their "own-grown" tomatoes. Those who participate receive a Hicks Nurseries Certificate of Achievement. All are welcome to enter.
About Artist Andy Gertler
Andy Gertler is a professional sculptor who specializes in the ephemeral arts. He has traveled the world, working with a variety of different elements including, sand, ice, snow and most recently, pumpkins. Gertler has been working professionally for various sand sculpture companies for over 10 years. In 2002, he started his own company, Sand Sculpt USA, where he focuses on sculpting and team building for corporate, charity and private events. Gertler has worked with a wide range of different clients, including, Martha Stewart, Cablevision, Atlantis Resort Bahamas, Armani Exchange and Yahoo.
Most recently Gertler has been cast as a member of the Travel Channel reality TV show "Sand Masters" where he and five of his sand sculpting cohorts travel around the world creating sand sculptures for a various clients.
Gertler has also tried his hand at ice carving and 3-D pumpkin carving. Gertler and his team received 2nd and 3rd place at The World Ice Art Championships in 2009 in the multi-block and single-block events.
Gertler owns and operates Flashbooty animation studios creating custom websites and games www.flashbooty.com. He is also an accomplished singer/songwriter/musician who restored brass, woodwinds and stringed musical instruments for 20 years prior to going into the visual arts field. |
