Crash Drive! Car Culture On Film at Heckscher Museum of Art in Collaboration with Cinema Arts Centre at Cinema Arts Centre in Huntington, Long Island, New York.
On July 9, enjoy the film Crash (1996), a psychological thriller written and directed by David Cronenberg starring James Spader, Deborah Kara Unger, Elias Koteas, Holly Hunter, and Rosanna Arquette. An introduction and discussion will be led by Film Critic Michael Atkinson.
Drive! Car Culture on Film is presented in collaboration with Cinema Arts Centre. The movies and the automobile were born almost simultaneously. Both discoveries transformed American in the 20th century and have proven to be a perfect match. By their very nature, movies thrive on movement, and few things go faster than cars. This series will celebrate and explore the iconic imagery, kinetic pleasure, and social significance of car culture in the movies. |
