Description: |
A celebration of backyard homesteading, spring and Earth Day on the farm. Grow, eat, enjoy hay rides, farm tours, cooking classes, farm picnic lunch and more. Come learn everything you need to know to start your own garden, chicken coop, or bee hive.
Hand-on, do-it-yourself workshops throughout the day, kids games, egg hunt, and visits with friendly farm animals including lambs, bunny, chickens, turkeys and pony, live music, and crafts.
Activities are ongoing throughout the day and will include:
RAISE CHICKENS
Includes one ready-to-lay chicken to take home (if you want one with $10 class fee)
Brood and raise chicks
Pasture poultry for eggs or meat
BACKYARD HOMESTEAD & GARDEN
- Work with bees
- Sheep shearing demonstration
- Fiber arts working with wool, carding, and spinning start or improve your own organic garden composting
- Container gardening success with flowers, vegetables, and herbs
- Edible flower gardening
- Seed starting and more
COOK
- Do it yourself fermented foods/sauerkraut
- Raw kale salad for kids
- Cooking demos throughout the day
KIDS' GAMES & FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
- Egg hunt in our new "Kids' Secret Garden" visits with friendly farm animals including lambs, bunny, chickens, turkeys and pony rides (fee) and live music.
Farm-to-table buffet lunch 12:00PM-3:00PM. Will include organic hot dog or veggie burger; potato salad; green salad, homemade herb dressings and a dessert (fee). Farm-to-table buffet lunch noon-3 pm for additional fee of $12. |
