Description: |
The exhibit will include an Outdoor Car Club Showcase as well as memorabilia courtesy of Himes Museum of Motor Racing Nostalgia/Marty Himes; Bridgehampton/Robert Rubin's Collection, vintage signage and the works of renowned auto artist George Ellis. The exhibit runs July 13 through Labor Day, September 2 at WMHO's Educational and Cultural Center in Stony Brook Village and is open 7 days.
See and hear all about why Long Island's five racetracks (Freeport, Bridgehampton, Riverhead, Islip and Vanderbilt) are historically significant, who and what raced there and much more including:
- Memorabilia, vintage signage, gas pumps, and the works of renowned auto artist George Ellis
- Outdoor Car Club Showcase featuring LI Corvette Owners Association and Volkswagen Club (July 20); Long Island Buick Club (August 10); Thunderbird Club (August 17); Jaguar and MG Club (August 18)
- Hear "hot car topics" and meet the experts, including local race car driver Walt Kern, a member of the Volkswagen Club, who will speak on "Stories of Racing on Long Island," July 20 at 2:30PM
