Description: |
Long Island Art Exhibit Charlotte Park The 1950s at Pollock Kranser House at Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center in East Hampton, Long Island, New York.
An artist who developed her own version of Abstract Expressionism in the 1950s, Charlotte Park (1918-2010) has been drawing increasing attention from scholars and collectors for her muscular, often chromatically brilliant paintings. Her art reveals a broad emotional range, with figural, landscape, and cosmic suggestions balanced within refined compositional structures. The current exhibition features paintings and works on paper lent by the artist's estate, courtesy of Spanierman Modern, New York; by private collectors; and by the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York.
