The Museum's artifacts reflect more than two centuries of North Fork life and culture and its buildings represent significant examples of local architecture. The diverse collection includes 18th- 19th- and 20th-century furniture, notable maritime paintings, decorative arts and local tools. The Museum's substantial collection of historic documents and photographs is open to researchers by appointment.

About The Oysterponds Historical Society
The Oysterponds Historical Society was organized to preserve the historical significance of Orient and East Marion, a community that was still largely populated by direct descendents of the original settlers three centuries before, a phenomenon fast vanishing in American life. |
