Hop Into Spring Eggstravaganza at Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City, Long Island, New York.
Though it's not exactly a "hunt," we thought we'd include this fundraiser for the LICM to help them recover much needed funds that were lost due to hurricane Sandy. Meet Peter Cottontail, learn about the Ukrainian Art of egg decorating, create bunny ears, participate in an egg race, and get your face painted. You can even celebrate spring's arrival by starting your own carrot garden.
Peter Cottontail, Egg Relay Races, Themed Activities and More
Hop on over to Long Island Children's Museum for a special night at the Children's Museum on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Peter Cottontail will be opening the doors after hours (6:00PM-9:00PM) for a night of fun activities, celebrating iconic symbols of the season eggs, bunnies and chicks. The evening will also showcase the "egg-cellent" clowning skills of National Circus Project.
Families can start their evening by making a bunny goody bag to hold the colorful eggs children will receive at each themed activity station they visit around the Museum. Eggs are filled with non-edible treats. Activities will include the opportunity to make a chick headband and bunny spinner, plant some bunny "bait" (carrots) and take part in egg relay races.
During the evening, children can also learn the art of "pysanka" the traditional Ukrainian egg painting technique as they apply their own design to a wooden egg. Face painting and cookie decorating will add a colorful splash to Spring EGGstravaganza.
Performers from National Circus Project will join Long Island Children's Museum in welcoming spring by sharing their "egg-cellent" clowning, juggling, spinning and balancing skills. Show times are 6:30PM, 7:30PM and 8:30PM. (Additional fee: $4.00 with EGGstravaganza admission).
"Spring is the traditional time of renewal" notes LICM President Suzanne LeBlanc. "Spring EGGstravaganza is designed as a fundraiser for the Museum, to help us recover from the impact Hurricane Sandy had on our bottom line." By pricing the fundraiser at a modest level ($12/person), families can enjoy a special night of family fun while supporting the Museum’s recovery efforts. |
