Description: |
The Afula Student Symphonic Band and Singing Company at Temple Israel of Great Neck in Great Neck, Long Island, New York.
Temple Israel, Gahelet & Temple Beth-El of Great Neck will co-sponsor a concert of 60 Israeli High School choral & orchestra students in a musical experience not to be missed. These talented conservatory musicians are from the city of Afula in the northern section of Israel. Great Neck is the first stop for these talented youth as they travel to several communities in their 2013 USA visit.
Saturday, March 9, 2013 is opening night with Gal Alterovich, conducting the Youth Orchestra, and Yoram Zadok, conducting the Youth Chorus. This performance weaves connections between American and Israeli students and families as music is the common language understood by all.
The concert on Saturday evening will take place in Temple Beth-El and is free of charge. The whole community is invited at 8:00PM to participate in Havdalah followed by the performance.
Sunday the Israeli group will have breakfast with the Gahelet School students and then journey to their next stop on their USA tour.
In the spirit of welcoming Shabbat together each hosting family can bring 2 adults to the Men's Club Friday night dinner free of charge. (No charge for our Afula guests.) Families who hosted in the past still speak of the wonderful experience it was for them and their children. |
