20th Annual Italian Experience Festival Hofstra University at Hofstra University South Campus in Hempstead, New York. Outdoors rain or shine.
The Italian Experience has grown to be a popular Long Island tradition, celebrating Italy's gifts of culture, education and commerce to America. The festival features food, vendors, handmade crafts, exhibits by cultural organizations, music, dance, poetry and much more for the entire family to enjoy.
Each year Hofstra presents an Italian festival, drawing thousands of people from the tristate area. Unlike any other Italian festival, the Hofstra celebration emphasizes the many Italian contributions to American culture. The festival includes concerts, dancers, singers, native food, wine tasting and craft exhibitions.

Filippo Voltaggio
Filippo Voltaggio has performed all over the world, singing and winning accolades from The New York Times to the Los Angeles Daily News, and awards in prestigious competitions and two celebrated CDs. In addition to his success on the stage, he has two celebrated CDs to his credit and has appeared in television, film and even on radio, with his syndicated programs, Filippo and the Chef and LIFEChanges With Filippo.
Coro d'Italia
New to Hofstra's Italian Experience festival, Coro d' Italia will perform traditional music and dance in folkloric costume. Hear the songs your great grandparents sang, see charming dances from the old country as well as operatic classics and Italian American favorites. Coro d'Italia is acknowledged as America's first group dedicated solely to Italian material. Founded in New York City in 1932, the Coro is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

- Poets and Writers Piazza
Award Winning Poet, Louisa Calio, directs the 10th Poets and Writers Piazza sponsored by Arba Sicula/Legas Press at Leo A. Guthart Cultural Center Theater. Celebrating the literary word as an essential part of Italian culture, contemporary Italian and Italian American writers will read and perform their works: Featuring: Poet Peter Covino ( Voices of Italian Americana), Joanna Clapps Herman (Anarchist Bastard), Frank Ingrasciotta ( Blood Type Ragu) Musical interlude: by Michela Musolino, Stanley Barkan (cccpress), Nino Provenzano with David Risk and friends, Laura Marciano, Bee Amore, Carrie Ann Tucci , Jay Mancini, Gaetano Cipolla, Marisa Frasca, Stanislao Pugliese, Louisa Calio and surprise guests. Book signings throughout the day. |
