On Sunday, October 13, local residents will join together for The Lustgarten Foundation’s 13th annual Long Island Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk, which will be held at Jones Beach in Wantagh, Long Island. Walkers can participate in a one or three-mile walk along Jones Beach's scenic boardwalk. Since its inception, the Long Island walk has grown to more than 7,000 participants and raised more than $9.3 million for pancreatic cancer research. And because of Cablevision's support of The Lustgarten Foundation, 100 percent of every dollar raised goes directly to research aimed at early detection, more effective treatments and ultimately, a cure.
Participants may choose from a 1 or 3 mile route. The route is handicap and stroller accessible. Dogs are not permitted.
About The Lustgarten Foundation
The Lustgarten Foundation is the nation's largest private supporter of pancreatic cancer research. Founded in 1998, the organization was named after Cablevision executive Marc Lustgarten, who died from the disease. The Lustgarten Foundation is dedicated to advancing the scientific and medical research related to pancreatic cancer, the nation's fourth leading cause of cancer deaths.
The Lustgarten Foundation concentrates on stimulating the scientific community to conduct the research necessary to find early detection methods, better treatments and a cure for this disease. Toward this end, The Lustgarten Foundation has provided more than $65 million in support of promising pancreatic cancer research. The Foundation also provides free information to patients and caregivers. Learn more at www.lustgarten.org. |
