Description: |
Mercy Center Ministries will be holding our second annual 5k Run and Walk for Homeless Teens on October 13th 2012 at beautiful Smith Point County Park in Mastic Beach, Suffolk, NY. Registration is $25 per runner/walker. There will be pre and post race refreshments, awards and a raffle. Proceeds will benefit Mercy's three shelters for runaway homeless teen girls and teen mothers.
Mercy Center is our 8 bed residential program for homeless teen girls ages 16-20. Young women who find themselves forced to leave home may refer themselves, they do not need to be referred by a counselor, school, or the legal system. Mercy Center is voluntary, a resident may leave at any time, though most stay and learn valuable independent living skills. |
