Description: |
23rd Annual Peter Sweisgood Breakfast presented by the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence.
Break bread with Long Island's addiction treatment community as we give thanks for the miracle of recovery, nourish our souls, and acknowledge those who have stepped forward to address the challenges of addiction on Long Island.
Founded in 1956 by R. Brinkley Smithers, LICADD remains one of Long Island’s premier nonprofits and is often the first stop for individuals and families struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction. As we mark our 23rd breakfast, we remember and honor the dedication, talents and life’s work of Father Peter Sweisgood. Both Father Pete and Brink saved the lives of many and our work today continues under their watchful eyes.
The Peter Sweisgood Breakfast has always provided LICADD with an opportunity to express our appreciation to our partners in addiction treatment and prevention. Last year, Stu Paul from Seafield, Dr. Stephen Dewey from North Shore/LIJ, and Pat Dolan’s team at News 12 joined a distinguished roster of honorees that includes: Jed Morey, Publisher of the Long Island Press; NYS OASAS Commissioner Karen Carpenter-Palumbo; the students at Kellenberg Memorial High School; Claudia Ragni from the Kenneth Peters Center for Recovery; Jack Hamilton from the Long Island Center for Recovery; George Benedict from Seafield; and Suzanne and Jim Boylston Cusack from Veritas Villa. This year’s honorees have each made a significant contributions to our efforts to promote awareness, treatment on demand and new approaches to substance abuse prevention. |
