Fritz Leddy Part II Exhibition presented by Guild Hall of East Hampton Saturday, October 27 - Sunday, January 6, 2013.
Guest Curator: Doug Kuntz
This exhibition will focus on never before seen works of Fritz Leddy, the Chief of the East Hampton Police Department from 1937 to 1968. Leddy took photographs for the Department, as well as for himself. Over a span of ten years surrounding World War II, Leddy took over 2000 photographs around the village of East Hampton. He was more than a serious amateur and used a large format camera that produced negatives of about 4 x 5 inches, all of them quite rich in detail. In 1999, twelve years after his death, boxes of his negatives were found in the basement of the Police Station and were developed for a 2006 exhibition at Guild Hall of which only a fraction of this work could be shown. Over 700 guests attended the opening reception and almost 100 museum visitors per day attended.
Lead Sponsor: Ellin and Ronald Delsener; Co-Sponsors: Joan and Robert Osborne, Gina and Robert Rattenni; additional support from Loretta Orion and Hugh King. |
