Description: |
John Berg Artist Exhibition presented by Guild Hall of East Hampton Saturday, October 27 - Sunday, January 6, 2013.
John Berg was the Art Director for Columbia Records. He was nominated for 29 Grammys and won four. In a 25-year career with Columbia Records, he designed over 5,000 record covers. Milton Glaser noted "Art Direction, that most mysterious profession, is essentially an activity of intervention. On the one hand, it basically consists of locating and gathering fragments of visual material and putting them in some appropriate relationship to one another; on the other, it involves finding the right person to do something for you and making him or her do it well. It is in this latter activity where the practice of art direction is most subtle and illuminating." Berg's works include the first Bob Dylan album, Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" all the Chicago albums and Bruce Springsteen’s’ “Born To Run." |
