Develop your drawing skills: Fundamental drawing for beginners and intermediate students: This basic fundaments course covers terminology that is an introduction to drawing, a comprehensive understanding of light and shade, value relationships and to build ones visual skills.
The purpose of this course is to learn to render simple and complex objects composed of different materials found is everyday surroundings. This 6 week course (2hr sessions) will cover the 4 basic concepts (listed below) by using still life objects to introduce different shapes and forms and how light and shade play on the forms. Each student will finish one drawing per session.
Drawing is about ideas being communicated by symbols that give the illusion of three dimensional form. There are four basic concepts in a picture that creates three dimensions.
Correct Drawing of an object, accomplished with Form and Planes
Values - Light to Dark tones (half tones, reflected light, cast shadows)
Edges - Lines (hard, soft, blurrs)
Overlap - forms and lines crossing each other (perspective)
A thorough understanding of all the four basic concepts is an essential part of ones artistic knowledge for all types of pictures one wants to create.
Materials: Smooth or medium news print; 1 medium and 1 soft charcoal pencil; kneeded eraser; razor blade (or pencil sharpener); stubs 1 small, 1 medium. |
