Fall Painting Classes at the Arboretum - Roberta Erlagen's Watercolor Classes presented by Art League of Long Island on 6 Thursdays September 20, 2012 - October 25, 2012. Number of Sessions: 6. Max Class Size: 10. Age: Adults and Teens 16+. Level: Beginner.
Class offers the beginning painter an exceptional experience that only this medium can offer. Students will learn the beauty of watercolors, painting from the magnificent Dahlia Gardens at the Arboretum. Located at the "Carriage House" in Planting Fields, Oyster Bay, the class hopes to capture the Dahlias as they reach their spectacular peak of season. Learn about your basic supplies, the importance of value, composition and technique. A step-by-step approach to painting. The "wet on wet" and "dry brush techniques" will be taught in detail. "Hands on experience" will follow demonstrations to personal critiques. Request art supply list at time of registration. Material fee: $15 due at first class, for one sheet of Arches 140 lb cold press paper and watercolor work board. Directions: Going west on 25A pass Rothmans Restaurant (East Norwich), first right onto Mill River Road, follow signs to Arboretum. First class to meet at Carriage House.
Roberta Erlagen is a water-colorist and art teacher on Long Island. She was born and raised in Huntington, Long Island. Her experience with watercolors evolved through her training at Manhattan's FIT and her years of study at The Art League of Long Island. At the Art League, she trained in various mediums with watercolor becoming her passion.
Today she teaches watercolor painting across Long Island through the Art League of Long Island and the Montauk Artists' Association. |
