Description: |
Taught by two graduates of the sculpture program at The Florence Academy of Art, Mason Sullivan and Lori Shorin, this workshop will help build a solid foundation of classical technique in sculpture for each of the participants.
The course begins by understanding the anatomical structure and proportions of the head. Students will block-in, make an accurate assessment of the features in terms of proportion and position.
The underlying anatomical structures common in all portraiture will also be covered. Through a series of organized and progressive steps you will use the understanding of structure and proportion to create a likeness of the portrait model.
In addition to teaching you how to sculpt what you see, Sullivan and Shorin will address how to translate and express the vitality of the living form in your work.
You will create a life-size portrait in clay working from a live model for 6 hours each day. This course is suitable for artists of all levels of experience. |
