Pastel Workshops The Instructor: Jane Mcgraw-Teubner was awarded Master Pastel Artist status from the Pastel Society of America in 2009. She is one of our most dedicated instructors, as well as a top notch artist. If you have ever desired to study pastels, but were too intimidated by the medium to try, now is your chance to study with a consummate professional.
This workshop will be divided into a morning and afternoon session. Basic and advanced techniques will be covered while working from still-life set-ups.
The morning will be devoted to a lecture and demonstration that will focus on:
- Developing form using light and shadow
- The effect of light on color
- Types of pastels
- Pastel stroke techniques
- Different types of paper
- Correcting mistakes
- Safety procedures
The afternoon will be devoted to personal instruction at each easel. A variety of still life subjects will be set-up for the class to choose from, ranging from simple color studies to slightly more complicated subjects. Through painting a variety of still life subjects the student learns the foundation needed to paint any subject. There will be enough time for each student to complete at least three paintings. |
