Description: |
The children's art workshop will consist of 5 days of learning art in a way that is similar to piano lessons. Our classical training is not designed primarily for “self expression," but rather to teach basic drawing and composition principles. Students will have an opportunity to work with color on a still life. Help is given on an individual basis, which enables each student to progress at his or her own rate.
Day 1: Students will start by drawing from a plaster cast using graphite. They will learn how to start a drawing and learn to use basic values.
Day 2: Students will continue to work from casts and start choosing objects for a still life. There will be further discussion on values and technique.
Day 3: Students will start and work on still life drawing.
Days 4-5: Students will continue to work on still life drawing, learn how to transfer a drawing and work on a still life with pastel or paint.
Each day will end with a discussion of a different artist and a bit of art history.
At the end of the workshop, students should have a grasp on the fundamentals of classical drawing and painting. They will also have a nice drawing and painting to keep, as well. |
