The Teaching Studios of Art is proud to announce its 2nd annual Plein Air Competition at Sagamore Hill Historic Preserve in Oyster Bay, NY a setting with over 83 acres of beautiful landscape, as well as the last home of Teddy Roosevelt, a 23 room Victorian structure of wood frame and brick. The preserve is located on the beautiful Gold Coast of northern Long Island.
How to enter: This competition is open to all plein air artists.
Entry is by application online only. The juror will select 35 artists from the applicant pool. We seek to assemble the best 35 Plein Air painters possible, in one location, and let beautiful paintings happen. There will be several awards given out for those who make paintings of distinction. All 35 artists will be invited to participate in an an exhibition at the new Teaching Studios gallery/project space in Oyster Bay. Applications are now being accepted online, deadline is June 20, 2012.
Juror: Eric Koeppel is one of the leading plein air landscape painters in the US today. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and has taught Plein Air workshops for the Hudson River Fellowship of the Grand Central Academy in NYC. He has been the subject of feature articles in American Artist Magazine and Plein Air Magazine.
