In this workshop, Künc will concentrate on teaching both the basic and finer points of painting a traditional alla prima portrait from life. Then students will work from the live model for approximately 4 hours. The process will begin by painting in a line drawing, followed by the application of more opaque paint.
Ms. Künc will offer personal critiques during the development of student paintings and one final group critique at the end of the session. She will also discuss the influence of Old masters such as Sargent, LaTour, Eakins, Velazquez and Van Dyke as inspiration for her professional practice.

The Teaching Studios of Art provides traditional art courses on Long Island at our Oyster Bay location and in New York City in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn with the mission to train artists in traditional techniques practiced for centuries before the advent of Modernism. We believe that creating a vibrant artistic environment enriches the aesthetic and cultural life of the surrounding community. We desire to equip students of all ages with the strengths of time-tested techniques. |
