The Figure Intensive: Figure Drawing and Painting with Structure and Anatomy Thursdays, 11:00AM-2:00PM and 3:00PM-6:00PM
The Figure Intensive figure drawing and painting short and long poses with anatomy, anatomical/structural approach for artists of all ages and levels of experience. This class is designed to provide an advanced level of anatomical and structural information to artists who are serious about the figure. Zeller will begin each of the two classes with an anatomical lecture relating to the pose. The Figure Intensive may be taken as a joint package of the two classes at discount rate, or individually, at our regular pricing.
Each week will include an anatomy lecture on specific body parts and groupings of muscles, complete with handouts. We begin by learning to convert the great masses of the body into specific shapes, using both linear contour and structural building blocks. Different types of classical proportions will be discussed, as well as different methods of measuring in a perceptual manner. One of the main goals of this course is to teach the artist to see the body as having architectural structure, and understanding how to translate that concept into 2 dimensional form. It's not as hard as it sounds, and the results come rather quickly.
The morning session has short poses for 1.5 hours, and then the entire rest of the day is devoted to one long pose for 12 weeks.
The Teaching Studios of Art is offering classical art courses and lessons in Oyster Bay, Long Island and in Brooklyn, New York. We are committed to training artists in traditional techniques. Every class is small in size, with a great deal of individual attention paid to each student. We offer a full spectrum of classical training: portraiture, anatomy, figure drawing and painting. We offer classical training in multiple media: Watercolor, acrylic, pastel and oils. Our classical drawing and painting program helps to form a foundation of academic drawing skills that our other classes are built on. We use plaster casts, as well as still lifes to help students learn the basics of classical draftsmanship. Our program is designed to be flexible. We offer daytime, evening and weekend classes. Students may mix and match as they see fit. |
