Exhibit : Impressionistic Views of Long Island Landscapes
by Quogue Artist Margot Carr August 2-30, 2011 at the Quogue
Library, 90 Quogue Road, Quogue, NY 11959. Margot Carr
has been a member of the Quogue community and an artist her
entire life. Her work is inspired by the cobalt blue skies
and cadmium green lawns of the Eastern End of Long Island
and how they play against each other and the shadows they
create. She paints to capture a moment of sunlight upon
lawns, marshes and architecture - leaving enough unknowns -
allowing the viewers to complete the details in their minds
and react based upon their own visual experiences. She is
inspired by world famous artists Farifield Porter, Sheriden
Lord, Edward Hopper and Helen Frankenthauler and her work
reveals their influences. Margot has always been a
watercolorist and has added oils to her portfolio in the
last three years. "Oils have been a great exploration for
me; a slower process, a larger canvas, and a more forgiving
medium. I will, however, forever be influenced by the white
of the watercolor paper - it instructs the creation of my
oils," says Margot. Margot's paintings have been widely
exhibited in various East End venues including the Guild
Hall Clothesline Sale East Hampton, as well as the 92nd
Street Y in New York, and Saatchi Online. When not painting,
Margot has focused her career in a variety of creative
businesses: Managing Director of production companies, a web
development firm and an architectural firm. A graduate of
the University of Vermont, she had a double major in Studio
Art / Art history, (including a year spent in Italy). Joan
Larson, an Art Gallery Committee member, is chairperson of
this event. Artist Reception: Saturday, August 6, 2011
2:30PM-4:30PM. All are welcome to attend, reservations not
necessary. For more information call 631-653-4224 or reply

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival - "Historical
Firsts" on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 7:30PM at the
Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church, 2429 Montauk Highway,
Bridgehampton, NY 11932. Hear history in three pieces
that set new standards. Mozart's G minor Piano Quartet, the
first major work composed for this congenial group of
instruments, has since become a cornerstone of the
repertoire. “The Forgotten Master” Louis Spohr (a
contemporary of Beethoven) bequeathed us the first work ever
to call itself a Nonet, and festival favorite Kenji Bunch
takes the wind quintet, a long-established genre, in
imaginative new directions with this vibrant work.
Admission: $35.00 (downstairs and balcony). For more

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival Wm. Brian Little
Concert "Gypsy Traveler" on Friday, August 12, 2011 at
6:00PM Wine Tasting/Appetizers at 7:00PM Concert at the
Channing Sculpture Garden, Bridgehampton, NY. "Can you
patter romany?" asks an old song. Bartók tried, collecting
thousands of folk melodies and distilling them into the
dances heard here. Golijov, born of Romanian-Jewish parents,
grasps the melancholy doina as a birthright, while Brahms
succeeded brilliantly in adapting the style with his
exuberant "Rondo in Hungarian style". The climax of this
program, which interweaves classical and ethnic influences,
is a first-time appearance by French-born jazz guitarist
Stephane Wrembel and his band. Here Wrembel reinterprets
tunes by jazz virtuoso Django Reinhardt, himself a Romani,
in his unique gypsy jazz fusion, which moviegoers may
recognize from his theme track to Woody Allen's Vicky
Christina Barcelona. General admission $100.00 and Reserved
$150.00. For more information call 212-741-9073 or reply at

on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 6:30PM at the Bridgehampton
Presbyterian Church, 2429 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, NY

has been enthusiastically greeted by BCMF festival-goers.
From here we move back in time to Ernö Dohnányi's op. 10

found his own distinctively dynamic voice, and to a
masterful early piano quartet by Mendelssohn, a composer
Schumann admiringly called "the Mozart of the 19th century".

Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival "Rich Reflections"
on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 7:30PM at the Bridgehampton
Presbyterian Church, 2429 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, NY
11932. A series of flashbacks: Charles Ives reportedly
wrote his Trio as a musical reflection of his days at Yale,
and its second movement cleverly incorporates quotes from
fraternity songs he likely encountered there. Ned Rorem's
intriguing title alludes in turn to Ives’ The Unanswered
Question, while Dvorják’s lyrical miniatures bring Schumann
expressly to mind. One of Mozart's last works, the exquisite
Clarinet Quintet represents the pinnacle of his
compositional mastery. Admission: $35.00 downstairs
side/balcony. For more information call 212-741-9073 or

Saturday Soiree "Midsummer Melodies" on Saturday, August
20, 2011 6:30PM-7:30PM at the Bridgehampton Presbyterian
Church, 2429 Montauk Highway, Bridgehampton, NY 11932.
Melody is the right sentiment for this Saturday as we
present three composers known for their extraordinary
instrumental writing. We start off with a beloved Schubert
sonatina, and then get whisked off to the Hungarian
countryside with Bartok's folk-inspired Contrasts - a piece
commissioned by the clarinetist Benny Goodman. Concluding
the program is an evocative set of fairy tales by Schumann,
in which recurring themes treat no specific story, but
rather the one uniquely revealed in the music. General
admission: $30.00. For more information call 212-741-9073

the then 28-year old that anticipated some of his greatest
works and then spring forward over a century to Kevin Puts's
engrossing Four Airs, each exploring the sonic profile of a
different instrument. Schubert’s delightful "Trout" Quintet
